MARIO SEPULCRE
9 His incessant search for truth drives him to delve into the mysteries of spirituality, placing him- self beyond mere ephemeral times and fashions. Sepulcre is gifted with a surrealist-inspired style, which he himself considers infrarealist – in either case he has been able to personalise his style after intense periods of visual arts study in Canada, France and Italy. It is from then on that he sets into a series of exhibitions on the figura- tion of the imaginary and rightly so, his work requires conceptual efforts from the materialism he imbues his still lifes with by introducing ordinary everyday objects with the aim of balancing out the overbearing weight the material has over the spiritual. His journeys and artistic experiences in Italy awoke in him an intense interest in Renaissance art as well as a preoccupation with formal perfection associated with symbolic visions. Professionally he has also been greatly influenced by the world of theatre and scenograpjy, and his painting has been constantly improving in areas that favour creativity thanks to his incorpora- ting of music and vocals. His search for truth has led him to take an interest in spiritual mysteries, and so Gustave-Mario Sepulcre’s work seems a touch out of his time and slips into a world more timeless. As a passio- nate fan of frescos, illustration and scenography, Sepulcre’s world revolves exclusively around artistic creation.
