6 COLECCIÓN PORTADAS It is now over eight years ago that we founded LLEI D’ART. The project was managed on the basis of the romantic conception that it would be a good thing to have a publication beyond the art markets, that would defend unique and unattended aspects such as emotional intelligence, the importance of perception, the aesthetic experience or the search for perfection. We had to speak unfettered, all the while conscious that setting ourselves up as guardians of an art ignored by trends and fashions would stoke the ire of the false gods of those resentful of beauty. As such, we decided to set out to rescue beauty and aesthetics, invoking artistic contemplation as an efficient means of spiritual comfort, or cleansing. We thought, and we still do, that it is much more important that art provides relief, rather than it denouncing, criticising or proclaiming. For this reason we call on the senses to help us accede to the enjoyment and pleasure of art. As we started to publish issues, we came to understand that art was a question of subtlety that went far further than a mere question of understanding or complex readings. It was closely related to the symphony between ideas and expressions, with its very own sequence of impressions. These difficult-, nay, impossible-to-understand impressions led to the discovering of the truth of the aesthetic, or even sublime experience. The years have passed and we have learned a lot and this has, without a doubt, been the best thing we have achieved. We have met great artists for whom art is the medium though which they bring together reason and sense, bringing form to an illusory hope, but not vaingloriously. We have also had the chance to interview intellectuals and professionals, thanks to whose kind interaction and courtesy, our readers that been able to find out about some of their most interesting assertions or conclusions.
