LIBRO - CATÁLOGO HAITZ DE DIEGO
Painting out of devotion: NOBILITY COLLECTIONS Historically, the horse has been the most de- picted animal in art. It symbolises dynamism, beauty, nobility, and strength. From the earliest representations in cave art, practically converted into a shamanic animal, to the present day, the horse has been a source of inspiration and ener- gy; it has formed part of the history of humanity and in a certain way has spiritually guided man’s paths: without questioning, giving everything, de- manding nothing. Possessing great symbolism, they are part of the mythologies of all cultures, being venerated in many of them for what they represent. There are innumerable and very ancient artistic scenes where the horse appears as an essen- tial figure based on its legendary participation in the life of man, who has used the noble brute as transport, as a work animal in the countryside, as a defence in battle, as entertainment in competi- tion, in bullfighting or in hunting. Traditionally, the role of the equine in art has been to enhance and extol the figure of those who use it to achieve their achievements and exaltations. Hence the abun- dance of equestrian, not equine, representations. The difference between the equestrian portrait and the equine portrait must be made clear, given White horse , 2016 Acrílico sobre lienzo Acrylic on Canvas 80 cm x 100 cm 35
